Angela M. Currie, Ph.D.

Dr. Currie graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. degree in psychology from Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. She subsequently received her M.A. degree in psychology and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Boston’s Suffolk University, where her studies centered on children and families. Her doctoral dissertation examined the influence of mothers’ emotion avoidance on their children's emotion knowledge skills within a Head Start population.

Prior to joining NESCA as a post-doctoral follow in 2011, Dr. Currie completed an APA-approved pre-doctoral internship within the Behavioral Health Services division at May Institute, Inc. While there, she provided outpatient assessment as well as individual and group therapeutic services to a diverse population of children, adolescents and adults suffering from various difficulties, including anxiety and mood disorders, trauma, substance abuse and psychosis.

Dr. Currie’s other clinical training included working as a preschool behavioral and mental health consultant, as well as providing outpatient therapy and psychological examination at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial VA Hospital and in the Chelmsford Public Schools.

In addition to these training experiences, she has been director of a therapeutic summer camp for children and adolescents with special needs, an outpatient neuropsychological examiner, a social skills group counselor, an educational liaison officer and an adjunct faculty member at Suffolk University. Dr. Currie has also volunteered for Court Appointed Special Advocates of New Hampshire as a Guardian ad Litem on behalf of abused and neglected children.
